Always Faithful

Always Faithful imageYellowstone National Park is the destination of those who want to experience nature in its purest form, untouched by the passage of time. Its sheer raw beauty brings a hush to visitors who gaze at the spacious landscape and spectacular wildlife.

Old Faithful stands at the pinnacle of Yellowstone’s countless treasures. This natural display of force and power coming from earth’s core is truly a sight to behold. Its eruptions have been recorded to reach upwards of 185 feet high, spewing out between 3,700 and 8,400 gallons of boiling water. Eruptions occur approximately every 90 minutes and more than 137,000 eruptions have been recorded.

Another unique opportunity Yellowstone offers a visitor is to see a mother buffalo interact with her newborn calf. The maternal instinct that a mother buffalo has for its young is hard to mistake. With the mother as protector and provider, a baby buffalo can often be seen resting or playing in her shadow.

These two strong images of Old Faithful and the buffalo bear witness to the enduring beauty of the natural world, a world that each of us must strive to protect and replenish. As Chief Seattle so eloquently said in his famous speech he delivered in 1851, “We are part of the earth and it is part of us. The perfumed flowers are our sisters; the deer, the horse, the great eagle, these are our brothers. The rocky crests, the juices of the meadows, the body heat of the pony, and man… all belong to the same family.”
